The Wubben Science Hall project represents the expansion and renovation of an existing science education building to include a new four-story, 31,900 GSF science center addition and renovation of 80,000 SF of classrooms, laboratories and administrative offices. The renovation of Wubben Hall included refitting the building to be served by a new geothermal heating system. Constructed using locally manufactured masonry and stone, the addition kept with campus aesthetics and included several other features that contributed to an environmentally sustainable facility. Among those are a central geothermal pump station for the campus; a low albedo roof, which changes reflectivity with temperature; and daylight-activated lighting controls. Other features include the Weldon lecture Hall, which seats 100 people.
